Hereford history revolves around a breed that has been in continuous production for over two centuries. Those same qualities that distinguished the big red and white cattle of Herefordshire England in 1742 are the qualities that mark the Hereford of today. This proud heritage has been carried down through the years by the Hereford herd sire. As it has been... and will always be... the Hereford bull has demonstrated the quality of stamping his characteristics upon his get. This proclivity to transmit so unerringly is endowed in the Hereford male to a degree that is unknown by the male of any other breed. His influence can be found wherever Canadian history was made, or is being made. He has stood and still stands, to serve Canada in his endowed vocation as a builder of beef. Bred for utility and 'practicability' Canada's Hereford herd sire has firmly established his national identity. In service seven years before Confederation . . . he helped to frame it. In providing beef for a growing nation . . . he helped to build it. In his faithful reproduction of sound stock . . . he helps to preserve it And, in well earned pride, the wheel of progression is bound together by his hide and his heart. |
